What is Craniosacral Therapy?

CST is a gentle, non-invasive therapy usually carried out while the client lies comfortably and fully clothed on a therapy table. A light touch is used to listen to the cranial rhythm.

This therapy, while very gentle is very powerful and connects with the deep healing forces within your body to facilitate and use the body’s own healing potential which can be encouraged to counteract stresses.

What happens in a session?

At your first session, we will complete a simple intake form and discuss your history and what has brought you for treatment.

Then you will lie, fully clothed on the therapy table. Usually lying face up, however on your side is also good. I then listen to your cranial rhythm using my hands and gentle touch.

I usually begin at the feet. This is a client lead therapy where your body sets the pace and direction of work, thereby you are in control which in turn enables change to occur.

Where can I find out more about Craniosacral Therapy?

For more information regarding Craniosacral Therapy (CST), please visit the Irish Association of Craniosacral Therapists at www.iacst.ie and upledger.ie

Please note, Craniosacral Therapy is not intended as primary healthcare, but rather to work alongside the relationship you have with your doctor or other health professionals.

How many sessions do I need?

Each patient is different, however I usually recommend a series of regular sessions. There is no set number of sessions.

Everyone is different and some clients may feel relief from symptoms after a treatment or two while others need more sessions to become aware of the changes taking place.

For long standing or chronic issues, I recommend consistent sessions over a longer period and this is reviewed with you, the client, regularly. There is no pressure!
